Ube Frontier University is a university founded in April, 2002 as a private four-year institution with a total capacity of 800 students. It is a sister school to Ube Frontier College, which is a two-year institution. The university is co-educational with three departments, the Department of Social Welfare and Psychology, the Department of Child Development and the Department of Medical Nursing. The institution covers important aspects of contemporary society and emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches and a broad perspective. Education at this institution contributes to the sustainable development of human beings.
In order to form good human relationships and to contribute to the development of local areas, comprehensive understanding of contemporary social structure as well as today’s major issues is indispensable. To meet this requirement, Ube Frontier University aims at cultivating the ability to study various issues in the fields of social sciences.
At the moment, the Department of Social Welfare and Psychology has, roughly
speaking, two courses to carry out the educational goals. The two courses
are ①Social Welfare, which deals with theories and practical skills to
solve welfare issues as well as mental problems that come with a contemporary
society with many aged people and fewer children, and ②Psychological Human
Relationships, which is designed to study human behaviors from a psychological
perspective. The Department of Child Development deals with studies of
childcare. The Department of Medical Nursing is a new department that was
added in 2007.
