The City of Ube is where Ube Frontier University and Ube Frontier College are situated. The city is located near the southwestern tip of the main Japanese island of Honshu, where it nearly touches the second most populous island, Kyushu. The bullet train between Kyushu and Tokyo runs a few kilometers north of Ube, with the closest stations being Shin-Yamaguchi to the east and Asa to the west. The main industry of this city is the modern heavy chemical industry. Ube is noted for greenery, flowers and sculptures which you enjoy everywhere in town as well as in Tokiwa Park.
